KKU Art and Culture Center Organizes Merit-Making and Cultural Preservation Activities on Its Anniversary

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Art and Culture Center of Khon Kaen University organized the cultural and religious activity titled “Merit-Making Almsgiving, Sin (Traditional Skirt) Wearing on Buddhist Holy Day, and Young Buddhist Pilgrims with Devoted Hearts” on the occasion of the Center’s anniversary. The event took place at the Buddha Art Building, Khon Kaen University, with participation from university executives, staff, students, and surrounding community networks. The atmosphere was filled with faith and the beauty of Thai cultural traditions.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Niyom Wongphongkham, Vice President for Art, Culture and Creative Economy, presided over the ceremony. He was joined by Assistant Professor Dr. Suksan Waengwan, Assistant to the President for Art, Culture and Creative Economy, and Mrs. Sirada Malasai, Advisor to the Art and Culture Center, who participated in the religious ceremony and met with attendees.

The program began with participant registration, followed by a sacred worship ceremony paying respect to important spiritual symbols of the university, including Luang Pho Phra Sri 50 Pi KKU, Luang Pho Sai Khao, Luang Pho Chet Kasat, and Lord Ganesha, to bring good fortune and prosperity. This was followed by a Buddhist chanting ceremony and a merit-making offering of lunch to nine monks, creating a peaceful and auspicious atmosphere for all participants.

After the religious ceremonies, participants shared lunch together in a warm and friendly environment, reflecting the strong collaboration between the university and surrounding communities in preserving and continuing Thailand’s valuable cultural traditions.
